The approximately 69,300 students enrolled in independent schools in 2009-2010 represent 11% of all elementary and secondary school enrollment in BC.

The FISA membership, while entirely voluntary, nevertheless accounts for 93% of independent school enrollment and 80% of independent schools. Membership is extremely stable. The members founding FISA in 1966 are members to this day.
