Statistics

We believe these numbers tell an interesting story

Numbers supply quantitative evidence of a reality which exists. Their meaning and significance, however, can only be determined by the context and history within which those numbers occur. Comparison of data is accurate only if that which is compared is equivalent. For example, if a researcher were to do interprovincial comparison of the proportion of students enrolled in independent schools, it would need to be noted that Catholic schools are counted as independent in BC and Manitoba, but as public in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.
