The FISA membership, while entirely voluntary, nevertheless accounts for 92% of independent school enrollment and 78% of independent schools. Membership is extremely stable. The members founding FISA in 1966 are members to this day.
The approximately 68,900 students enrolled in independent schools in 2007-2008 represent 10.8% of all elementary and secondary school enrollment in BC.
